Sweetriot Cacao Nibs, 3 Pack
When I first discovered Sweetriot, the adorable reusable tins (which feature the artwork of different emerging artists chosen every few months) were what caught my eye, but the intense dark chocolate flavor was what kept it.
Each 1 oz tin is full of 100% dark cacao nibs dunked in 50%, 65%, and 70% dark chocolate.
They are the ultimate quick-fix for whenever you are hit with a chocolate craving, with a satisfying crunch (like biting into a crumbly espresso bean) and jolt of choco-energy to keep you going (and…to keep you from snarfing down a king-sized candy bar).
Each all-natural cacao nib is only 1-2 calories per piece, packed with antioxidants, and dairy-free, kosher, and gluten-free. So naturally, I decided to fold them into pure sugar…making a batch of delicious, marshmallowy, light-as-air, vanilla meringues studded with dark chocolate coated cacao nibs. I’m interested in trying ways to use the nibs in a savory dish too, any ideas?
Besides the fun packaging and deep chocolate satisfaction, Sweetriot is easy to like for the values the company are founded on – their mantra is: A sweetriot is a joyful celebration of culture, diversity, and understanding — it is the opposite of a civil riot, which is dangerous, violent, and oppressing.
The company is big on supporting fair trade with developing countries, equitably sourcing their goods in Latin America, and is dedicated to producing a product that brings a little joy into the world. Each tin of nibs even has a little inspiration quote slipped inside, fortune cookie style. Mine read:

Wow! I have never heard of this company, but their product sounds delicoius! I love chocolate and I love ESPRESSO!!!! It doesn’t get too much better than that….happy thought? Mmmm chocolate! My happy monday thought: My 2-year-old son said to me this morning “I love you mom.. all the time” (translated.. sounds better in Danish) That is a happy thought that lasts all day – even on a monday!
