Big Wong, Chinatown NYfeatured
There are a few hole-in-the-wall places in Chinatown that I’ve been going to for as long as I can remember. Dai Wong, or Big Wong Restaurant, is one of them. When I walk in and inhale the scent of freshly roasted duck, and hear the deadly chop of a flashing knife against a butchering block, I feel at home. When old ladies push towards the front of the take out line asking for the extra fatty, extra flavorful pieces of barbecue pork to take home, I feel happy in my heart. And when the waiters are brusque in their manner, but efficient in their service, I know that all is right in the world.

There I was, sitting at the handsome bar of Bar Stuzzichini, off Union Square in NYC, completely zoned out to all the pretty people around me drinking their sexy apertivi and buxom glasses of vino.
Plenty of time for all that revelry in a second. First, I had to deconstruct the sublime bowl of pasta in front of me, and memorize every flavor so I could attempt to recreate it at home. The object of my obsession was the brilliantly conceptualized Maccheroni alla Chitarra, strands of pasta coated in a pistachio and lemon cream sauce.

Thursday NightLife at Cal Academy and Sushi Bistro New Locationfeatured
Thursday nights at the California Academy of Sciences have been transformed into a vibrant scene where you can tickle your inner scientist with a cocktail in hand, and enjoy the museum’s thought provoking exhibits while a mini dance party throws down.
We worked up an appetite pondering our teeny tiny existence after viewing the stars and vast galaxies in the new state of the art planetarium. Good thing Sushi Bistro – our favorite sushi spot in the Inner Richmond – is conveniently located just a few minutes away!
