Eating, Shopping, and Getting Pampered in {Toronto}featured
This post is going to be a little bit different (i.e. not all food), because after all, it was a Girls’ Weekend in Toronto and we happened upon some fabu shopping and pampering spots that I’d like to share 🙂
But it is fitting that I should start this out with our brunch at Lady Marmalade since this was a reunion of ladies who love their brunch. Seriously, I think a majority of our friendship has been spent at brunch, thinking about brunch, recalling past brunches…

St. Lawrence Market, Raclette, and a Baby! {Toronto}featured
My dear friend Julie has always been the fearless one to lead the charge amongst us, and having a baby was no exception. Jules had a beautiful baby boy in January and so last month, we girls swooped into Toronto to visit the new momma and meet Charlie.
Now, forgive me for being sentimental, but I just need to take a moment here to recognize these amazing sister friends of mine. Over our weekend of catching up, gabbing about relationships, getting the skinny on birthing, shopping, and eating (the things we do best together)…it occurred to me how far we’ve come together.

Carrot Ginger Soup Recipe + T-Shirt Giveawayfeatured
It never ceases to amaze me how different fresh fruit and veggies taste when they are homegrown in season. Right now the asparagus is tender and crisp, the strawberries are like candy, and delicate zucchini blossoms are just begging to be stuffed with ricotta and lightly fried. I remember the first time I tasted — really tasted — a carrot. Crooked and imperfect, with a bit of dirt still clinging to the frilly greens on top. Sweet, earthy, and wholesome.
The lovely flavor of these spring carrots is highlighted in this Carrot Soup, with the sweet playing on the warm spice of ginger and cumin. You could also add a spike of curry or garam masala for a more exotic twist. I top it all off with a bit of tangy Cumin-Lemon Yogurt Crema for a cool contrast. Speaking of cool, this soup also makes an interesting chilled soup. Think carrot gazpacho 🙂

Sugar Snap Pea Saladfeatured
Spring Fever has officially hit. Mulch is in the air, mini-skirts are on the streets, and farmers’ markets are in full bloom.
I couldn’t resist these brilliant green sugar snap peas the other day. Sweet, crunchy, and juicy, I’ve even been chomping on them raw. Grassy and tender, they taste like pure Spring.
