Chuao Chocolatier Giveaway: Firecracker Trufflesfeatured
Happy 4th of July everyone! Hope you’re be celebrating with some good BBQ, cold bevvies, and spectacular fireworks!
In honor of this booming occasion, we’re doing a giveaway of Chuao Chocolatier’s Firecracker Truffles.
The Firecracker Truffle contains a caramel fudge center infused with chipotle chile and a touch of sea salt. It is then enrobed in dark chocolate and a layer of popping candy.
Take a bite and as the caramel and chocolate start to dissolve on your tongue, the pop-rocks start crackling away – you can actually hear them! A gentle heat from the chipotle kicks in, before long, your mouth is sparking away like your own private fireworks show.

Maui Edition: 2010 Kapalua Wine and Food Festivalfeatured
Aloha, my friends! I’ve just returned from a glorious week in paradise, waking up to blue skies, tropical sunshine, the smell of the ocean and plumeria in the air, fine sand between my toes, and all the food and wine a girl could dream of.
(Don’t pinch me, I’m not ready to wake up yet).
When I was invited to cover the 29th Annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival, I knew it would be an amazing experience – I mean, a four-day culinary extravaganza of tasting dishes from the island’s best chefs, and literally hundreds of wines at my fingertips…in Maui?! What’s there not to love about that?
Not only was it my first time to the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival (which btw, is the oldest running festival of its kind in the country – one year older than the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, in fact), it was my first time to Hawaii!
I’m officially hooked. I’m considering giving it all up here on the mainland to become an island hula girl.
The folks at KWFF have something really special going here. I can’t wait to give you the scoop on it all! For now, here’s a sneek peek at what I had the pleasure of experiencing (anything for you, my dear readers) 😉

Kara’s Cupcakes Converts a Nonbelieverfeatured
I never really got caught up in the whole “cupcake craze.” Magnolia? Sprinkles? Meh. I’ve always been more of a cookie gal myself. Or cheesecake. Yeah, cut me a fatty slice of cheesecake any day.
But that’s just me. I knew my guests visiting from out of town would go ga-ga over Kara’s Cupcakes, and it would be the perfect pick-me-up as our sightseeing brought us to Ghirardelli Square.
Jennifer proceeded to purchase a dozen cupcakes…because who could choose just one? I was pretty blasé about it all…until the Strawberry Cream filled cupcake rocked my world.
