Chicken & Waffles at Little Skillet are no well-kept secret anymore, but did you know about their Brown Sugar Black Pepper Biscuits? Hmmmm? If I was a fat angel, I would sit on a cloud of this light, buttery biscuit and nibble all day at its heavenly brown sugar crust. I was inspired to recreate this using my trusty recipe for Man-Catcher Sweet Potato Biscuits.

I simply added a teaspoon of freshly ground black peppercorns to the dough mixture, and before putting the biscuits in the oven, I brushed them with some buttermilk and sprinkled a generous amount of brown sugar on top. I think next time, I’ll mix a little melted butter with the brown sugar to get it to stick together better. Maybe then I can get a thick layer of it to stay on top, like Little Skillet’s version. Mmmm these man-catchers just got a hot makeover. Watch out, boys! Little Skillet 360 Ritch Street (at Brannan St) San Francisco, CA 94107 (415) 777-2777
