SF Street Food Scavenger Huntfeatured

There are some really special people here in SF. By special, I mean talented, creative, witty, fun, and…a touch raunchy.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was held this past Saturday, and don’t worry, a full recap will come, but I wanted to give some much deserved credit to the Go Game and La Cocina for putting together the amazingly fun and well-orchestrated 3-week long Street Food Scavenger Hunt leading up to the festival.

The scavenger hunt had 224 teams roaming the city in search of delicious street eats, and generally assaulting San Francisco’s finest street vendors with their wit and creativity.

For your Monday procrastinating pleasure…a peak into the lives of SF’s street food fanatics:

parental-advisory-explicit-lyrics Mission: Sad Cookie – Team Miso Horny told a joke to Guisell at Sabores del Sur that had her cookies not so sad anymore.

Mission: Frenchie FindFatty Boomblatty and Trans-Fatso’s performed a rap song to the Crème Brulee Cart Man

…while the Socola Sisters from our own Team LMS took a—erhm—different approach.

Teams brought out their best pick-up lines…

Mission: Tastes Like Love
Head to Rye and give the bartender your BEST pickup line – we’re talking chocolates, flowers, singing, choreographed dance, everything and anything you can think of. If it’s good enough, the bartender will say, ‘I think you need a drink,’ and you should cough up the cash for the special you get served. Then you will have to guess the ingredients, and if you do a good job you will be blessed with the name of the cocktail – enter it once you earn it!

“Would you like to eat my cookie?”

Cassanova

We were sitting there deciphering our mysterious cocktail when this guy came in flying solo. He goes up to the bar, looks left, looks right, looks Phil the Bartender in the eye, and says, “Hey, what’s your sign?”
[Awkward pause.]
Amazing.

Brushed off those drama club skills…

Mission: Hopping with Flavor – take a photo of your team eating some mobile frogs legs a la Cocina!

Soup Sluts: Kermit the Frog's Funeral (Miss Piggy and Mourners)

And got creative with their interpretations.

Mission: She Who Leads Us – take a photo paying homage to the Tamale Lady

Raiders of the Lost Tart: In San Francisco, not every Tamale Queen is a lady.

Mission: Who You Calling A Weenie? – Create a custom hot dog

Deep Fried Twinkie: Homer's Moon Hot Dog - Twinkies with butter cookies, mojito jelly beans, and strawberry syrup

Socola Sisters: Double Hottie Dog

In general, inhibitions flew out the door…

Mission: Fantasy Foods – take a photo of your wildest fantasies coming true with Crepes A Go Go

CincoAmigos:

CincoAmigos: “Tie me up and Beat the Crepe out of me”

Mission: Rolling With My Rotis – Do a funky chicken dance (in public) at the RoliRoti truck

The Photoshop skills came out…

Mission: Move Over, Hitchcock
Head on into Bloodhound and order up some cocktails – they just might help you get the creative juices flowing for this next photo challenge. You need to come up with a movie poster that incorporates your team, at least one cocktail, and the birds flying on the ceiling.

Lick My Spoon: Bloodhunt – Flock of Fear

And everyone had fun playing dress-up.

Mission: Obvious Tourist
The first part of the mission is easy – go to Chez Spencer, locate the man in red and take a picture with him looking as French as humanly possible!

My Other Car is a Torta: Monsieur Escargot Inmypants
