The Great American Food & Music Fest
Mark your calendars and start saving calories now, for a summer eatfest to end all eatfests. The Great American Food and Music Fest is coming our way Saturday June 13th!
A celebration of great American food, chefs, winemakers, and musicians, hosted by none other than Bobby Flay, the Great American Food and Music Fest promises to be a blowout event featuring the best food from around the country.
Like…legendary pastrami sandwiches from Katz’s Deli (NY), Junior’s cheesecake (Brooklyn), Tony Luke’s cheesesteaks (Philly), Anchor Bar buffalo wings (Buffalo), Pink’s chili dogs (LA), Graeter’s ice cream (Cincinnatti), Zingerman’s bacon sampler (Ann Arbor), Texas BBQ from Southside Market (Elgin), and more.
American classics from the best of the best.
Gnom gnom gnom…this is going to be one glorious food baby.
STARSTRUCK: There will be chef demos by Food Network celebs Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri, Anne Burrell, and Aida Mollenkamp, along with some of the Bay Area’s finest chefs, including Nate Appleman (A16), Nancy Oakes (Boulevard), and Bruce Aidells (Aidell’s Sausage).
FOR THE WINOS: A Grand Tasting Tent showcasing great American wines and seminars like “Pairing Wine with Food” and “Great Wines Under $15.”
HEALTHY & LOCAL: A mandatory Bay Area topic I suppose…topics on tap sound interesting though, like “Eating Organic on a Budget.” Also, look out of an Edible Schoolyard Exhibit (wonder if healthy & local icon Alice Waters will be there herself).

Little Feat, and Marshall Crenshaw.

The real knockout at Tony Luke’s is the Roast Pork Italian. Sliced roast pork, broccoli rabe, sharp provolone. Best sandwich in Philly, no contest! If they bring those out here I might lose my mind.
Mmm, any ’salad’ sandwich…tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey salad, ham salad. Chicken wins though!
Homemade mac n’ cheese – buttery and very cheesy with a slightly crispy baked top! Yum.

All time favorite American “dish” (more a meal really) is Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans. When done right, that is one of the best meals ever- and completely quintessentially American.
