Two giveaways in a row! What can I say, I love being your sugar mama.

And, I just couldn’t help myself when I caught wind of Devil in an Apron’s very special, limited edition Fiesta Flavors offering – just in time for Cinco de Mayo!

Kudos to the masterminds behind this at Devil in an Apron. You know you love what you do when you can dream up something like Avocado Marshmallows.

This 20-piece sampler contains the following handmade organic confections:

Pâte de Cerveza (4) – A soft jelly made with Bohemia, a light, rich, Mexican lager.

Tequila Lime Caramels (4) – Soft, chewy, caramels made with the highest quality organic milk and cream, spiked with tequila and a splash of fresh lime.

Habanero Truffles (4) – The full-bodied flavor of the habanero is the star here, not so much the heat. There is only slight warmth in the finish of this thick-shelled, rich, dark truffle that’s dusted in cocoa powder.

Avocado Marshmallows (4) – Subtly sweet and creamy, this naturally-tinted green, delicate confection is a must try.

Aztec Macarons (4) – A French chocolate macaron cookie blended with mole-inspired spices.

Based in Rocklin, CA, Devil in an Apron is dedicated to the “preservation, development, and expansion of the art, science, and appreciation of chocolate and confection.” They strive to be as green as possible, as illustrated in their use of locally made packaging from recycled materials and exclusive use of sustainable or organic ingredients.

In case you haven’t noticed, they also think way out of the pinata (sorry…I couldn’t help myself) when it comes to creativity. “Confections that stretch the imagination and the tastebud”…yes, I do believe I’m smitten.

To win Devil in an Apron’s limited edition Fiesta Flavors Flight, leave a comment here telling me: Which Cinco de Mayo inspired flavor here are you most excited to try? Or, you can share with me: What is the most creative, imagination/tastebud-stretching confection you’ve ever come across?

The winner will be announced on Cinco de Mayo!

ok, the best sweets I EVER had were down in Mexico. They make the BEST candy. And talk about flavors. How about the rainbow and more. They grow much more fruit down there because of the climate and the flavors are extraordinary. mango. papaya. jackfruit. coconut.

  23. Dskco says:

Even though those Tequila Lime Caramels sounds crazy, I’m most excited about the Avocado Marshmellows. The creamy avocado texture and taste has to go super well with the marshmellow.
Also a unique flavored chocolate I can think is Vosges Black Pearl truffle with ginger, wasabi, black sesame seeds in dark chocolate. Sounds crazy but it was really good!

  24. Sandra K321 says:

The tequila lime caramels sound interesting. A nice tribute to Cinco de Mayo.

  25. Tara says:

First, hi Steph! I have been following your blog for a bit (found it through Dennis’ blog) and think it’s fantastic!

I am going out on a limb here and going with the beer jellies — a little odd i know, but i love jelly like things (in venezuela i was adicted to guayabitos, which were these delicious square guava jellies, half way between guava paste and a fruit roll-up, but much fresher tasting). In terms of other confections — i love salt where it’s unexpected — growing up we always ate pomegranate seeds with salt & pepper, delicious! also had a yogurt flavored ice cream once, perfect combo of tangy and sweet, and the added bonus of healthy bacteria!

    • Stephanie says:

Hi Tara! How are you? nice to hear from you! i’m so glad you’re enjoying the blog :) love salty and sweet combos too — mmm pomegranate with salt and pepper sounds so interesting! will i be seeing you at campus dance?

  26. Emily says:

Mmm… Pâte de Cerveza, I love jellies. Those sound quite delicious! I’ve tried their bacon caramels, which were outstanding. Am I eligible? ;)

  27. chai says:

The best confections I had combined two of my favorite things- bacon and chocolate. It was made by someone who works at Apple with the darkest Cacao Barry chocolate and bacon. I’ve had other bacon flavored chocolates after but these were the best. When done well (and I’ve had some that wasn’t) bacon and chocolate is amazing.

  28. kim v says:

    The Aztec Macroons sound yummy.

Tequila Lime Caramels sound fabulous. I think it would definitely satisfy the caramel craving I get. Thanks.

  30. When I was researching for a trip I planned to take to Morocco I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard tell of an avocado milkshake sold on the streets. I surely found it at a night time street vendor in the bustling city of Fez. The frothy shake had just a whisper of avocado laced throughout and it was world-altering. To have a sweet drink flavored with that fatty amazing avocado was out of this world. I think these Devil in an Apron desserts show equal imagination and have my mouth watering!!
