Harvest to Holidays Giveawayfeatured

Fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves are changing into bursts of reds and oranges, the air smells fresh and crisp, and the markets are calling my name with bushels of shiny apples, golden pumpkins, winter squash, and earthy mushrooms. ‘Tis the season for hearty roasts, steamy soups, and kitchens that smell of baking bread.

In celebration of the harvest season, I’ve put together some of my favorite items to help you get cozy as the weather turns chilly, and to get you ready for all the holiday cooking and entertaining on the horizon:

Coq au vin, mon cheri?

The Spoon Sisters Split Decision Pie Pan

The Spoon Sisters: Split Decision Pie Pan

This Split Decision Pie Pan from The Spoon Sisters was invented for indecisive people like me. Double Butterscotch Apple Pie or Banana Cream Pie with Chocolate Ganache? Bacon, Leek and Mushroom Quiche or Fig and Blue Cheese Tart? Why choose? Make both! This amazing pie pan includes two inserts so that you can bake either a full pie, or two halves. Also love the “lift & serve” feature which makes removing the finished goods…um, easy as pie.

Stony Brook WholeheartedFoods Butternut Squash Seed Oil

Stony Brook WholeheartedFoods: Butternut Squash Seed Oil and Pumpkin Seed Oil

It is no secret that I am a butternut squash fiend, so I was particularly excited when I discovered these roasted pumpkin and squash seed oils from Stony Brook WholeHeartedFoods. The seeds of more than 10 squash are used in producing one 187 mL bottle of oil. That is a whole lot of tasty squash essence in one bottle!

The oils are pressed from non-GMO squash seeds grown in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. The seeds are gently roasted and expeller pressed at low temperatures to preserve their delightfully nutty, toasty flavor and healthful properties. No preservatives or chemical additives are used in the pressing process; no other oils are added or blended in — each bottle is 100% pure varietal seed oil. I’ve been loving my Butternut Squash Seed Oil drizzled over butternut squash soup or polenta, and the Pumpkin Seed Oil is killer with roasted Brussels sprouts.
