Picnic in the Park: Saigon Stylefeatured
I woke up on Saturday to a gorgeous, sunny, 78 degree day…in November. I guess this makes up for all that whining I did in July over chilly SF weather. I promptly threw on a sundress and packed a bag for a picnic in the park!
As always, we wanted to go cheap, easy, and delicious. Vietnamese it was! We headed to Lee’s Sandwiches in Little Saigon.

Homemade Grrranolafeatured
When I was a poor student, I would oftentimes suck it up and shell out the too much money for a box of granola. It was my go-to snack. Healthy, delicious, and perfect for snacking on. One day, I was over my friend Emily’s place, and saw that she had a Nalgene full of granola in her freezer. I wasn’t too surprised. If you know Emily, you’ll know she’s smart, sassy, and what I like to call preppy crunchy. Think pearls and Patagonia, sailing on the Cape and…Em, what is it they do in New Hampshire? Apparently they make amazingly good homemade granola.
Now that I am a poor writer, I’m glad I have Emily’s recipe on hand. Crunchy, nutty, sweet, slightly salty, and full of that baked goodness that you can only get with brown sugar and your oven. It’s better than the boxed stuff by far. You’ll never want to pay for overpriced cereal again.

Sushi Bistro: Rock n’ Roll Mefeatured
I could eat sushi every day of my life and not get sick of it. It helps when places like Sushi Bistro keep it fresh and fun with innovative combinations of ingredients (and dish names). Case in point, the orgasmic Rock n’ Roll.
Seriously, you will put this in your mouth, and you will make sounds that may or may not be appropriate for the table.
The Rock n’ Roll features spicy scallops smothered in kewpie mayonnaise spiked with sriracha (Thai-style hot chili sauce), and served on top of a California roll. The sweet scallop meat, the creamy mayo baked to golden, bubbly irresistibility, the kick from the sriracha, the subdued California base with its refreshing cucumber crunch…these forces combined will make you go mmmm…yummm…ooooh yumyumyum!

Front Porch: Come. Stay. Pull Up a Chair and Join Me and My Bucket of Chickenfeatured
As I walked up to the Front Porch, I knew I was in for an interesting dining experience. Outside was an array of antique rocking chairs, overgrown houseplants, and festive lanterns. Inside was like stepping into a sweet southern grandma’s sitting room.
Our group of ten was designated to the corner party table, tucked away next to the bar where we could be rowdy and not toooo disruptive.
And then the eat fest began.
