Homemade Nutella + Holiday Baking Giveawayfeatured

Oooooh yeahhh. Holiday Homemade Nutella. This is happening.

When my favorite “deep-fried Southern belle” friend Rachel asked me to participate in her annual Holiday Bake Sew Craft Along, I was super excited. Really, I was just excited to say “y’all” in my guest post.

If you’re into DIY projects or are looking for homemade food gifts for the holidays, you have to check out this project. Each day this month, an awesome group of domestic goddesses are guest posting around the theme “a handmade homemade holiday.” Rachel’s A Southern Fairytale is hosting 30 days of food gifts, while Kelly from According to Kelly is featuring 30 days of holiday crafts, and Cindy from Skip to My Lou has 30 days of gift inspiration from the sewing machine.

Best of all, I get to offer you guys a killer GIVEAWAY perfect for the holiday baking season!

As I racked my brain for a tasty homemade gift idea to share, these Christmas Cookie Jars came to mind. They’ve always been a big hit, but I think this year I’ve found something else that may just top that: Homemade Nutella. Good heavens. This stuff is divine.

High Five Fridays: Weekly Meal Plan, Thanksgiving Leftoversfeatured

Hello, lovelies!

Hope you all had a wonderfully delicious Thanksgiving! Hua and I couldn’t make it home to the East coast this year, but we are thankful for some wonderful friends who adopted us for the holiday. Some major feastivities went down. Needless to say, I’m thankful for elastic waistbands.

This week’s High Five is all about Thanksgiving Leftovers! Some awesome remixes here. Leftovers never looked so good. Enjoy!

  1. Thanksgiving Monte Cristo Sandwich. The Monte Cristo is one of my favorite sandwiches and this one looks killer using up leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes.
  2. Fried Stuffing. Pan-fried stuffing cakes? Um…yes, please. And you thought the indulgence was over. Put an egg on this and call it a good morning.
  3. Thanksgiving Eggs Benedict. This sounds like the ultimate Thanksgiving Breakfast, complete with turkey, stuffing, and gravy. Hello, weekend brunch!
  4. Sweet Potato Pancakes. Transform those leftover sweet potatoes or sweet potato casserole into the best sweet potato pancakes ever.
  5. TREAT YO SELF: Cranberry Sauce Streusel Bars. Don’t even think about tossing that leftover cranberry sauce! I can’t wait to make these easy dessert bars. They look so good I almost want to make the sauce again to get an extra batch.

Pumpkin Pie Cheesecakefeatured

What’s better than pumpkin pie? Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake, obviously. Bringing together warm pumpkin spices, notes of ginger, and creamy dreaminess, this dessert is a must for the season. Plus, beautiful pumpkin swirls makes this dessert a real stunner, perfect for the holidays.

The crust calls for gingersnaps, so I upped the ante and went for the best – Miette’s gingersnaps. Extra buttery, assertively gingery, and sturdy. I had a hunch these would make a killer crust. Hunch confirmed.

High Five Fridays: Weekly Meal Plan, Thanksgiving Editionfeatured

It’s time to put your game face on, the main event is less than a week away! Gobble Gobble!

  1. Parker House Rolls. The sight of these literally stopped me in my tracks. That golden buttery sheen, those flecks of Maldon sea salt — dinner rolls never looked so heavenly.
  2. Brussels Sprouts Gratin. I have made this so many times since I discovered it on Denise’s blog. It is SO good, it never fails to wow anyone who tastes it. With a winning combo of crispy bacon, caramelized shallot, cream and parmesan, this dish is perfect really for any time of year, but especially on Thanksgiving.
  3. Mashed Potato Casserole with Sour Cream and Chives. On a big day like Turkey Day, you want to prepare as much in advance as possible. This dish is the perfect solution to taking care of those mashed potatoes ahead of time. The bread crumb topping is a really nice touch (to make a really killer version, use sliced bread with crusts cut off, and just tear the bread into small pieces).
  4. Pancetta-Sage Turkey with Gravy. This turkey is slathered with a heavenly butter compote made of pancetta, garlic, parm, shallot, sage and rosemary. I just don’t see how this could not be phenomenal.
  5. TREAT YO SELF: Banana Cream Pie with Chocolate Ganache and Salted Caramel Sauce. Yes, this is as ridiculously delicious as it sounds. It is definitely a more involved recipe that requires a lot of steps, but if you plan ahead and make the components ahead of time, it’s not too painful. And one bite will confirm that it was well worth it.
